Byron Moore

Date of birth: 24 August 1988

Biography

Hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, Byron brings quality and vast experience to the Bucks following an EFL career encapsulating promotions and Wembley glory.

Byron began his career at the Crewe Alexandra Academy. He graduated to sign professionally and move into the first-team squad, making his debut in 2007 after gaining experience at Kidsgrove Athletic.

The Railwaymen experienced relegation in 2008/09; however, after establishing himself as a regular starter, Byron was to score a crucial second goal at Wembley in the League Two play-off final in 2013, as Crewe regained their place in the third tier.

In 2014, Byron sought new pastures and signed for Port Vale. A family bereavement meant he took compassionate leave, meaning that he missed pre-season, and it took Byron time to establish himself as part of the Valiants’ side.

He moved on to Bristol Rovers in 2014, playing for the Gas for two seasons before being released and joining Bury.

With the Shakers, Byron earned the second promotion of his career, this time securing automatic promotion.

Financial issues meant Byron walked away from the Lancashire club to sign for Plymouth Argyle, and it was to bring a third promotion for Byron, who scored six goals in 36 appearances. At the end of the 2019/20 season, there was to be no contract extension offered.

Staying in the South West, Byron signed a three-month, cut-price deal with Torquay United; at its conclusion, he moved back to the Midlands.

Without a club, he signed for the Bucks in February 2022 and helped them to avoid relegation. Byron’s performances were also to earn him a new deal.

Despite relegation in the 2022/23 season, Bucks manager Kevin Wilkin was keen to bring Moore on board for the 2023/24 season, citing his ability to retain possession and his experience as factors in his retention.
