We are pleased to confirm the loan signing of defender Alex Gudger, who joins the Bucks on a season-long arrangement from Brackley Town.
The vastly experienced centre-half is no stranger to Bucks manager Kevin Wilkin. Alex played for Kevin at Brackley for two seasons, collecting an FA Trophy winners’ medal as a Saint in 2018 before joining Solihull Moors.
A five-year stint with the Moors saw Alex form part of one of the division’s redoubtable defences, partnering Callum Howe as Solihull became an established National League club.
Defeat in the 2022 play-off final denied Alex the glory of a promotion to the EFL, and after one more season with Moors, he returned to his former club, Brackley in May 2023.
Alex made 22 appearances for the Saints last season, scoring once. The Saints reached another National League North playoff final but fell short against Boston United.
Aged 31, Alex brings depth to the Bucks’ defensive ranks, with the absence of the injured Nathan Fox and Steffan Jones restricting Kevin Wilkin’s options.
His involvement in Saturday’s home match with Hitchin Town is conditional on the ratification of his registration with the Southern League.
Welcome to the Bucks, Alex!
