With great pleasure, we can announce Rhys Hilton as the club’s first new face for the 2024/25 season.
The exciting attacking wide midfielder arrives at the New Buck’s Head following confirmation of his exit from fellow Southern League Premier Central side Stamford AFC.
23-year-old Rhys was a Birmingham City academy player whom featured on loan at Redditch United before his release from the Blues in 2020.
Spells at Sutton Coldfield Town, Coleshill Town and Bedworth United followed, and he joined Halesowen Town ahead of the 2023/24 season and was loaned back to Sutton Coldfield, meaning he did not feature in either game versus the Bucks.
Rhys departed The Grove in March 2024 to sign for Stamford AFC, scoring on his debut for the Daniels, and Rhys also netted against eventual champions Needham Market as Stamford’s late push for the playoffs fell just short.
Based in Coventry, Rhys fits the template for the kind of young player with potential that manager Kevin Wilkin likes to work with, and the Bucks boss expressed his satisfaction at having acquired Rhys’ signature:
“It’s no secret that continuity and consistency within the group is something we’re always looking to achieve, but it’s also good to have a few new faces join the dressing room to keep things fresh and make sure that the lads maintain their standards.”
“Rhys will give us more competition in those attacking positions and I’m looking forward to getting to work with him. He ticks a lot of those boxes; he’s reasonably local and hopefully, we can benefit each other; he can help us get to where we want to be and we can get his career on an upward curve.”
Welcome to the Bucks, Rhys!
