We are looking to recruit more volunteers to help on match days at the SEAH Stadium – could you be who we are seeking?
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our club – we wouldn’t be able to do as much without them.
If you’ve not considered volunteering before, you may not know what is involved or be concerned that you’d be asked to make a big commitment.
It’s true that volunteering asks you to devote something precious to everyone – time.
In return for your time, you’d become part of a friendly team of volunteers, spending a few hours on Saturdays and sometimes during the week, helping to deliver a better matchday experience for all.
Not every game requires a full turnstile or stewarding crew, but it may be that there are occasions when we need people to cover for absence or illness amongst our regular staff; if you can’t commit to every game, that’s OK – once we have a full team, we aim to make things flexible, so that others can cover you once in a while.
Are you the right person for the role?
To know this, you need to know what’s involved, but we’d also stress that there’d be opportunities to develop into these roles, so don’t worry if you don’t tick every box. Volunteering may even provide you with some opportunities to develop your skills and abilities.
Turnstile Operators
The role is very simple – you are based in the turnstiles, provided with a scanner on a mobile phone, and all we ask is that you use the camera function (which is linked to the relevant ticket-checking software) to check tickets as fans arrive – it is that easy!
You would be required from 13.30 to 15.15 on Saturdays and 18.15 to 20.00 for midweek games when we play at home.
The bonus is that if you wish to stay and enjoy the game when your turnstile closes, you get free entry – or if you prefer to go home that’s fine too, although we hope what’s on the pitch might tempt you to stay.
Required qualities:
- Are you reliable?
- Are you a good timekeeper?
- Do you have good communication skills?
- Can you work well as part of a team or on your own?
- Can you use a handheld scanner – similar to a mobile phone (training will be given)?
Stewards
Matchday stewards are essential to ensuring that the SEAH Stadium is a safe and friendly environment to watch football and other events.
Time requirement: Approximately 4½ hrs on Saturdays and some weekday evenings.
Full training will be given, and your supervisor and team will support you.
Required qualities
- Are you reliable?
- Are you a good timekeeper?
- Do you have good communication skills?
- Can you work well as part of a team and follow instructions?
- Are you observant?
