AFC Telford United are delighted to announce a new partnership with Her Game Too, which aims to raise awareness on sexist abuse within football.
We are joining a number of other clubs from the Premier League, EFL, National League and beyond to show our commitment to the cause, helping to create further awareness around the problems females can face both on matchdays and online away from fixtures.
As part of the launch for this exciting new partnership, we can confirm that our Women and Development side as well as our junior female sides within the academy will wear the Her Game Too badge on the sleeve of their match day shirts next season.
The club has also committed to providing female supporters with free sanitary products within the New Bucks Head next season.
HerGameToo was founded by 12 passionate female football fans who are committed to growing the campaign with the aim of fostering an ethos in football in which women are welcomed and respected equally.
The non-profit organisation aims to create awareness, educate, research, develop a strong sense of community and create strong relationships with clubs, among much more.
Further aims include creating regular content to champion women in football (players, staff and fans), creating strong relationships with club trusts and communities, having a presence at football grounds and sports bars to build a more welcoming environment for young girls and women as well as continuing to campaign against sexism in football and online abuse.
Lucy Ford, Co-Founder of #HerGameToo said: “We are delighted to be partnered up with AFC Telford United and we look forward to working together to ensure the Bucks is an inclusive environment for all women and girls to attend games.”
Football Operations Manager Luke Shelley said: “We are fully behind the Her Game Too campaign and we are delighted that to announce that all our female sides next season will proudly wear the Her Game Too badge on the sleeve of their match shirts next season which will help raise awareness across Shropshire and the Midlands.
“To celebrate this partnership, we will be dedicating one of our home fixtures in 2022/23 to the campaign – more information on this will be announced in due course.
“We will continue to work closely with our Foundation to promote equality, diversity and inclusion and tackle discrimination to ensure AFC Telford United are a football club for everyone.”
