Following discussions held between manager Kevin Wilkin and several members of his squad from last season, we can confirm that the following players will be leaving the club:
- Brad Bood
- George Forsyth
- Ty Webster
Speaking about the departures, Kevin Wilkin said the following:
“Brad and George had loan spells away from the club last season (at Stourbridge FC and Kettering Town respectively) and with neither featuring in my plans for next season they will depart with our thanks and best wishes for the future.”
Ty Webster’s departure may come as more of a surprise; however, Kevin feels that Ty’s best interests will be served by finding a club that can give him the game time he needs to develop further:
“Unfortunately, we’re not in a position where I can guarantee Ty the opportunities to play which we both feel he needs, so by mutual agreement we’ve agreed to part company. Ty will benefit from starting regularly, possibly back within an academy as a full-time player, and he too leaves with our best wishes.”
Kevin acknowledged that seeing players move involves some difficult conversations, but that these are part of the game, and part of his role:
“Brad, George and Ty are all good lads, but my job is to drive the football club forwards and a part of that is about making decisions, some of which may not always be popular, but which are always made with the club’s best interests at heart. I hope all those lads who have been released will find new opportunities and push their careers forward.”
Kevin also confirmed that Twariq Yusuf’s contract was terminated by mutual consent before the end of the season.
With Fraser Kerr already confirming his departure, there is scope for Kevin to add new faces to the squad.
We thank all of those players mentioned for their contributions to the club, with Brad’s in particular going back over several seasons.
Talks are continuing with other members of last season’s squad and we anticipate that the next few days may see us make further announcements relating to player retention.
