We can confirm that the club has accepted an undisclosed fee from Spalding United FC for the transfer of Nathan Fox.
Nathan indicated his wish to move to the Tulips, which will involve less travelling from his home in Nottingham and allow him to spend more time on a recent business venture.
Recognising Nathan’s position, we have sought to enable the transfer whilst ensuring we receive fair value for a player under contract.
Having agreed upon a deal acceptable to all parties, the transfer of Nathan’s registration has been completed and registered with the Southern League.
Chairman Ian Dosser, commenting on Nathan’s departure, said:
“Nathan has been excellent in his time with us, and we didn’t want to lose him. We tried to retain him, but we have reluctantly agreed to the transfer to help him be geographically closer to the new business that he has set up.”
Nathan leaves the club having contributed consistently to our progression on the field. Manager Kevin Wilkin acknowledged Nathan’s value in his efforts to retain him but also recognised that a parting of ways was inevitable:
“I tried hard to keep him (Nathan), but when the player’s mind is made up and there’s that opportunity there for him, then it’s difficult. In those circumstances, you just get the best deal for everyone. We tried as hard as we could to keep hold of him, but it hasn’t happened, and we have to move on.”
We thank Nathan for his contribution to the club and wish him well in his new ventures.
Meanwhile, Kevin and his staff have moved swiftly to identify and sign a new left-back for the club, and confirmation of his addition to the squad will be announced shortly.
