Movember: Brandon Cuts a Dash with a ‘Tache

“A hairy upper lip can be much better than a stiff upper lip.”

That’s the message from Bucks goalkeeper Brandon Hall, who has committed to growing a moustache to raise funds and awareness for Movember.

Brandon has been itching to talk about his support for Movember, and as we’re a few days into the month, he’ll doubtless be itching a little as his new face furniture starts to take hold of his top lip.

For Brandon, that’s a minor irritation; the Bucks’ keeper is a lot more uncomfortable knowing that men are suffering, and in some cases losing their lives, as a result of physical and mental health issues that could have been prevented.

Movember, which takes place annually in November (get it?), is when brave and selfless men around the world put aside or possibly embrace vanity, brace themselves for a bit of ridicule and grow a moustache.

By growing a ‘mo’ and inviting those around them to sponsor their efforts, the aim is to raise awareness and funds for men’s health – specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Silence around any of these issues can be a killer, or at the very least, they can be a source of misery. Ignoring the signs because of embarrassment or a feeling that, as a man, you should just ‘man up’ (ugh!) could be attitudes that end up being costly, so let’s get talking!

As a goalkeeper, Brandon knows all too well the value of being able to communicate his feelings, a key component of good mental health. Naturally, his ball-handling abilities come in handy too.

We salute Brandon for his desire to change things for the better and hope you will support our no.1 by donating to the fundraiser on his Mo Space, to which we’ve provided a link below. You can also scan the QR code to go to Brandon’s Mo Space.

We’ll check in with Brandon throughout Movember to see how his mo is looking and feeling, and we may even try to get a reaction from Brandon’s wife, Hattie.

With home games on the 12th and 23rd of November, there are opportunities to see how Brandon’s mo is progressing. We’ll also try to share some images—if it gets people talking about men’s health issues, it’s all good!

Feel free to offer Brandon any styling tips you may have, and please donate if you can; it would be fantastic if we could help him smash his target.
