J’Adore Dior? We Hope So…

We are excited to confirm the signing of our second new face of the summer, with striker Dior Angus putting pen to paper on a deal for the 2024/25 season.

Coventry-born Dior spent last season in the National League with Altrincham and admitted that Telford’s reputation, the lure of playing for Kevin Wilkin, and the prospect of helping the club regain a position at Step 2 were all factors in his opting to come aboard, taking a drop of two divisions.

Aged 30, Dior has ascended to the summit of the non-league game, winning the National League with Barrow. He also has recent EFL experience with Harrogate Town.

His father, Terry, played as a defender in the EFL with Northampton Town and Fulham and was a teammate of Bucks manager Kevin Wilkin during his time with the Cobblers in the early 1990s.

Kevin’s capture of Dior means the Bucks have eleven confirmed signings for the forthcoming season, and further deals are close to completion. When asked about the signing, Kevin revealed he had tried to sign Dior previously, albeit not for the Bucks:

“Dior is one I’ve tried a few times to get in the past, but for whatever reason, he’s just been slightly out of reach, probably due to his career trajectory. He’s done well at clubs, winning the National League at Barrow, and he’s a nice, polite, kind of down-to-earth guy; I’m delighted to be working with him.”

Asked about Dior’s on-field qualities, Kevin said:

“He wants to run in the channels, and he’s a strong, quick lad with a good eye for goal.”

Turning to Dior himself, his friendships developed through football mean that he is aware of the club’s desire to get back to Step 2:

“I kept an eye on things (at Telford) last season because I know Noony (Mark Noon), and I have friends playing at the level, so I was aware that you guys just missed out to Leamington. Going so close after a sort of shaky start probably set you back a little, and the club missed out on the automatic slots, so hopefully we can improve on that this season.”

Welcome to the Bucks, Dior!

Biography

Dior began his career in non-league with Solihull Moors and spent his formative years traversing the Midlands, with spells at several clubs, including Leamington and Kidderminster Harriers.

Dior’s most successful spell in terms of goal production came at Redditch United, which earned him a move to EFL side Port Vale,

Although he did play and score in the EFL for the Valiants, he spent much of his time on loan, first at Tamworth and then with Nuneaton Borough, a club his father Terry had also represented.

A further loan spell at Barrow became a permanent move in 2019, and in his first full season, his strike partnership with Scott Quigley fired the Bluebirds to the National League summit. The Covid pandemic left Barrow in limbo after the curtailment of the season, but they were to earn the title and promotion on the PPG (points per game) ruling.

Dior left Barrow at the end of the January 2021 transfer deadline and signed for Wrexham. Six goals in the remainder of the campaign were followed by a long spell sidelined through injury and illness, although Dior earned a contract extension in January 2022.

Another transfer window move came in September 2022, with Dior joining EFL side Harrogate Town. Further injuries limited his game time, and at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, he joined Altrincham.
