We can confirm that forward Dior Angus has completed a move to Southport FC.
Dior signed for the Bucks in the summer of 2024 and scored four times for the club; however, Bucks manager Kevin Wilkin and Dior himself felt that a move would benefit both parties.
“I don’t think Dior’s time at the club has panned out how either side would have liked or hoped. There are probably a few factors involved, but perhaps the travel has been a bit difficult, possibly adapting from full-time back to semi-professional as well.”
“We haven’t been able to pair Dior with a target man, and that’s maybe also been a reason why it hasn’t quite produced the returns that I know he wanted and that we wanted too.”
Dior will link up with a former Bucks player and Hall of Famer at ‘Port, where Jim Bentley is the manager, and Kevin spoke positively about Dior’s personal qualities as he confirmed his departure:
“Dior is a lovely, very well-mannered lad, and he has always conducted himself in the right way; there’s no question of that. Sometimes, despite everyone’s best intentions, things don’t work out. Dior moves on, so will we, and I wish him all the best with his new club.”
The club had agreed to terminate Dior’s contract mutually; however, Southport and the Bucks have processed the transaction as a free transfer to expedite the move.
Dior’s departure means that the Bucks will seek to strengthen their attacking options, something that Kevin acknowledged:
“We never stop looking at how we might strengthen the team, and with this happening, we’re obviously looking to reinforce that area. We have been trying to do that for a little while now, and although Dior leaving heightens this a bit, we need to find a player or players who will improve us.”
As a club, we’d like to endorse Kevin’s good wishes and thank Dior for his contribution whilst at the SEAH Stadium.
