Welcome back, Sam Whittall!
It is with great pleasure that we can confirm that the versatile utility player has agreed terms and put pen to paper to remain with the Bucks for the 2024/25 season.
Sam had a hugely positive impact following his arrival from Rushall Olympic in October 2023, bringing his experience and unflappable, no-nonsense characteristics to the Bucks.
His arrival was a factor in an upturn in both performances and results, and he proved to be a key signing for manager Kevin Wilkin, who is only too happy to be working with Sam once more:
“Sam was really consistent when he came in, and I’m privileged as a manager to be able to work with him again. He’s got a great attitude, he’s been ultra-consistent and we had some outline discussions before the end of last season about Sam staying with us. He was brilliant through the playoffs for us and I’m naturally delighted that he’s decided to come on board.”
Sam, who lives in Telford, becomes the first member of last season’s team to sign for next season.
“He’s local, and that’s something that really appeals. He’s buying into the club and having fans feel they can identify with the players is everything I want us to be about. It helps to have that engagement and that’s clearly where we want to go. Sometimes you have to look further afield because you can’t always get a team of local talent at the level you need, but Sam certainly does fit what we need. It’s a signing that makes me happy and which I think will make the fans happy too.”
Kevin confirmed that discussions are progressing positively with several other players and that announcements should be expected soon.
