AFC Telford United are delighted to confirm that terms have been agreed with experienced defender Mal Benning to join the Bucks.
The 32-year-old left-back arrives at the SEAH Stadium with a wealth of experience across the EFL, having made more than 500 professional appearances during a career spanning over a decade.
Benning began his career with Walsall, progressing through the club’s academy before establishing himself in the first team. Following a loan spell with York City, he joined Mansfield Town in 2015 and went on to spend six seasons with the Stags, becoming a regular fixture in their side.
A move to Port Vale followed in 2021, where Benning played a key role in their promotion to League One during the 2021/22 campaign. He capped off the season in memorable fashion by scoring the third goal in Vale’s 3-0 play-off final victory over former club Mansfield Town at Wembley.
Benning later joined Shrewsbury Town in 2023 and went on to make 116 appearances during three seasons at the Croud Meadow before departing following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
Predominantly operating at left-back or left wing-back, Mal brings significant EFL experience to Kevin Wilkin’s squad as the Bucks continue their National League North campaign.
