AFC Telford United Foundation is delighted to announce that its Kix Programme has been named National League Trust Project of the Year, recognising the outstanding impact the initiative continues to make across the local community.
The award celebrates six years of growth for a programme that began with a single weekly session in Dawley and has since developed into one of the Foundation's most successful community projects.
Today, the Kix Programme delivers 10 youth clubs and outreach sessions across Telford every week, engaging more than 260 young people and providing opportunities that extend far beyond football.
Designed to create safe, positive environments for young people, the programme combines sport with mentoring, wellbeing support, educational guidance, personal development opportunities and pathways into employment. Through strong partnerships and dedicated delivery, Kix has become an important part of the community, helping to reduce antisocial behaviour while supporting young people to reach their potential.
One of the programme's proudest achievements has been seeing participants progress into coaching and community roles, with several former attendees now helping to deliver sessions and inspire the next generation.
The Foundation would like to place on record its sincere thanks to the many organisations and individuals who have contributed to the programme's success over the past six years.
We are grateful for the continued support of Telford & Wrekin Council, Safer Stronger Communities, West Mercia Police, Shropshire FA, Next Gen Coaching, the National League and the National League Trust, whose backing has played a significant role in the development of the project.
Special recognition must also go to the Foundation's coaching and delivery team, whose commitment and dedication continue to make a difference in communities across the borough:
Ian Preece
Marvyn Joseph
Johnny Bradley
Dylan Shinton
Perry Avraam
Ben Buttler
TJ Collins
Kyran Purohit
Jamie Sheward
James Shaw
Most importantly, the Foundation would like to thank every young person who has attended a Kix session over the last six years. Their enthusiasm, commitment and participation are the reason the programme continues to grow and thrive.
This award is a reflection of what can be achieved when football clubs, local authorities, emergency services, community organisations, volunteers and local people work together with a shared vision.
Everyone connected with AFC Telford United Foundation is incredibly proud to receive this recognition, and we look forward to continuing to support young people across Telford for many years to come.
