AFC Telford
1 v 1
Alvechurch
Match Review
Sam Whittall’s second half penalty secured the Bucks a 1-1 draw against Alvechurch.
The Bucks were nowhere near their best in the first half and fell behind after just five minutes. The Bucks failed to clear a free-kick, and Ammar Dyer’s right-foot shot beat Brandon Hall to his left, into the far corner.
For the remainder of the half Church looked the sharper side without threatening Hall’s goal all too often. Wilkin’s men did start to stir into life just before half time, though, and the Bucks carried that momentum into the second half.
Indeed, the Bucks looked more energetic after the break as they pushed for an equaliser; an equaliser that eventually came in the 63rd minute. Church skewed a clearance high into the air, and the ball eventually fell to Ricardo Dinanga who was brought down in the box. Captain for the night Sam Whittall stepped up and slotted the ball passed Hollingshead to level things up.
The Bucks looked the more likely side in the remainder of the game, although Omari Sterling-James’ eye-catching volley nearly won it late on for Alvechurch. His effort flew just wide though, and the game finished in a 1-1 draw.
