Bucks hit 8 on return to league action

It was finally a return to league action for the Bucks women after a number enforced weeks off due to opponents not being able to form teams.

It was the Bucks who started the game the brightest, the first chance falling to Abi Beady whose header was comfortably claimed by the visiting keeper. Beady was again involved 15 minutes into the game but her first time volley from a long Rom Evans free kick was held by the keeper. In the 18th minute the deadlock was broken as Sasha Woodhouse cut inside from the right before finding Skye Hipkiss on the edge of the box. With time to pick her spot from 23 yards, Skye looped one over the keeper into the roof of the net. It was a dominant start to the game for the home side and they were rewarded with a second just past the half hour mark. Jem Smith finding Sasha Woodhouse on the right with space to run onto. With the beating on her marker, she picked her spot low and hard across the keeper into the bottom corner.

HALF TIME: AFC Telford 2 Tamworth 0

Just over a minute into the second half and the scoreline was stretched further as Smith once again the architect in the middle finding Abbie Baldwin out on the right hand side. Her low cross was turned home ahead of the keeper by Liv Bellamy.

It was Bellamy who grabbed her second of the game 20 minutes into the half. A quick throw from Baldwin found Beady who in turn found Bellamy on the edge of the box. The first touch plucked the ball out the air, the second an exquisite chip over the keeper.

It was certainly going to be Liv’s day in front of goal as less than 10 minutes later she completed her hat trick. More great work from Woodhouse down the right found Bellamy on the edge of the box again. This time the Tamworth defence were much tighter but with some quick feet and patience she found a gap to smash the ball high past the keeper.

Just two minutes later and it was Woodhouse with another great assist causing trouble down the right hand side once more. Her cut back to the edge of the box was hit first time by Kaitlyn Richards. Her effort looped high over the keeper just dipping under the right side of the crossbar.

With just over 10 minutes of the game to go, it was the Woodhouse, Bellamy combination in full force again. This time Sasha played a great ball over the top for Liv to run onto. With the keeper advancing Liv unleashed a chip over the keeper into the unguarded net for her fourth of the game.

On 82 minutes Tamworth grabbed a consolation with a great free kick that beat Mia Bansal in the Bucks goal. However, just before the final whistle we restored our 7 goal advantage as Abby White made a solid run before unleashing a long range low shot that saw the keeper deceived by the bounce.
