"Bucks women’s focus returns back to the league"

Following last weekends cup exploits, our women’s side must now focus their attention  back onto the league. They opened their league campaign 2 weeks ago with a 4-4 draw at home to Hednesford Town. This weekend they are back on the road facing a side they already faced in the FA cup this season in Newcastle Town.

The Bucks will be hoping for a similar performance and result to that when they faced Newcastle in the first qualifying round, a 10-0 victory. Charlotte Budd led the way in this game with a hat trick before continuing her rich vein of form last weekend with a brace against Belper.

The hosts have started their league campaign with a 4-0 defeat away at Walsall before a 3-1 defeat at home to Redditch Borough in the league cup last weekend. In the same fixture last season the Bucks ran out 5-0 winners thanks to goals from Beady, Baldwin, Budd, Evans and Smith.

With one eye on the cup next weekend, manager Alex Owens knows that it’s important for the side to pick up their first win of the league season to keep the pressure on early leaders Walsall Wood.
