"Bucks looking for important win against the leaky Trawlerboys"
Match Date : April 18th, 2025 3:00 pm
Competition : Southern League Premier Central
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 15:00
The Bucks face already-relegated Lowestoft Town on Good Friday.
The Trawlerboys won the Isthmian League North Division title last season but were relegated back to Step 4 after defeat against Bedford last Saturday. Lowestoft had made a middling start to the campaign, but the wheels came off following manager Jamie Godbold’s departure at the end of October. Club legend Godbold had been in charge since May 2018 but left to take up a role within the Ipswich Town academy.
Godbold was replaced by another club stalwart, Andy Reynolds. Previously assistant to Godbold, Reynolds has been with the Suffolk club for more than 20 years, featuring in over 400 games for the Trawlerboys in his playing days. Things haven’t gone so well for Reynolds in the dugout though, and Lowestoft’s form has fallen off a cliff since the turn of the year. The Trawlerboys have lost 15 of their 18 games in 2025, including a current run of six defeats in a row during which they’ve conceded 20 goals.
Lowestoft have the division’s worst defensive record, in fact, shipping 96 goals in the 39 games so far – 22 more than the next worse backline, Hitchin, who have let in 74. But the Trawlerboys can cause sides problems going the other way, with young winger Harvey Sayer impressing with 16 league goals this season.
The Bucks are 13 unbeaten and haven’t lost at the SEAH Stadium since mid-November. Kevin Wilkin’s men currently have the division’s best points per game home record too, and the Bucks will need to continue that good form if they are to have any chance at claiming the league title.
Goals from Byron Moore and Jimmy Armson saw the Bucks win 2-1 when the sides met back in September, and Wilkin’s men will be looking to secure the three points again on Good Friday.
