AFC Telford
vs
Curzon Ashton
Match Preview
"Bucks looking to tame the Nash"
Match Date : March 1st, 2022 7:45 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 19:45
On Tuesday we welcome Curzon Ashton to the New Bucks Head.
The Bucks and the Nash played out a goalless draw when the two sides met on Tameside at the start of the month. Paul Carden’s men were the better side in the first half but, with Curzon down to ten men for the whole of the second half, the Bucks couldn’t find a way through a resolute Nash side.
The Nash started the season in fine form, winning seven of their first nine games in league and cup. But after manager Steve Cunningham was surprisingly sacked in mid-October, the Tamesiders initially struggled to recapture that form under new boss Adam Lakeland. However, the Lakeland seems to have his side ticking now, with Curzon unbeaten in five and having kept four clean sheets on the spin. The Nash currently sit in 10th, two points outside the playoffs but with plenty of games in hand on those above them.
Several new faces arrived on Tameside in the Summer. Former Hednesford winger Adam Thomas, who joined the Nash after a spell at Stockport County, has impressed with seven goals, while other recent arrivals include keeper Chris Renshaw, midfielder Alex Curran and former Bucks forward Tom Peers.
AFC Telford notably haven’t won on any of their six visits to Tameside, but have fared better against the Nash on home soil. The Bucks have won two, drawn two and lost just one of the match-ups against the Greater Manchester club at the New Bucks Head.
The Bucks have put in some good performances at home under boss Paul Carden, including Saturday’s draw with leaders Gateshead. Carden and the Bucks will be looking for both another good showing and, more importantly, all three points on Tuesday night.
