Match Preview
"Bucks looking for away win at Victory Park"
Match Date : April 23rd, 2022 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : Victory Park
Kick Off : 15:00
The Bucks head to Victory Park this Saturday aiming to bag all three points against promotion hopefuls Chorley.
Led by former Telford favourite Jamie Vermiglio, Chorley are once again in the playoff picture. However, despite sitting 5th in the table, the Magpies have struggled for form since the end of January, and a playoff place that once seemed certain could come under threat. The Lancashire club have won four, drawn four and lost seven of their last 15 games and are winless in four. Chorley do have one of the best home records in the division, though, having picked up 37 points from 19 games in front of their own fans.
The Magpies squad remains largely the same as that of last season. Defensive linchpin Scott Leather skippers the side, while at the other end Connor Hall is Chorley’s top scorer with 11 goals this campaign.
The Bucks only win at Victory Park as AFC Telford United came way back in August 2004. That 3-1 triumph was, in fact, AFC Telford’s first ever league victory. The sides have met in Lancashire four times since then, playing out a 1-1 draw on the most recent ocassion with Chorley winning the other three encounters. Meanwhile the Bucks beat the Magpies 3-0 earlier in the season despite playing more than half the game with ten men.
Results over Easter have seen Paul Carden’s men fall to 21st, just three points above Guiseley. But the Bucks have lost only three of their last 11 games and will be aiming to pick up more important points this weekend.
