Match Preview
"Bucks looking for lift off against the Canaries"
Match Date : March 29th, 2025 3:00 pm
Competition : Southern League Premier Central
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 15:00
The Bucks entertain Barwell at the SEAH Stadium this weekend, with both sides in need of the points for different reasons.
The Canaries have had a very mixed campaign. After a slow start, Barwell then climbed back into the top half of the table before a disastrous run of seven defeats in a row after Christmas saw them tumble back down into trouble. 13 points from the last 21 on offer has helped stabilise the ship, but the Canaries are not yet clear of danger – they currently sit in 17th, only five points above the drop.
Barwell are managed by Jimmy Ginnelly. Most recently with Nuneaton, Ginnelly previously had an eight-year spell in charge of Barwell between 2010 and 2018 before returning to Kirkby Road last season. Since his arrival, Ginnelly has brought in a number of his former Nuneaton charges, including Victor Nirenold, Prince Mancinelli, Kane Richards, Tyrell Waite and Leroy Lita. Captain Brady Hickey remains the Canaries’ key man though and has hit 15 league goals this season. Meanwhile, experienced forward Ashley Chambers has impressed with six goals in seven games since arriving from Basford in February.
Ginnelly’s side tend to perform better on home soil, having picked up 26 of their 42 points at Kirkby Road. Indeed, the Bucks have lost on both visits to Barwell over the last two campaigns, but Wilkin’s men won 2-1 when the Canaries came to Shropshire last season.
The Bucks are ten unbeaten and haven’t lost at the SEAH Stadium since mid November. But after several recent draws, Wilkin’s men will be looking for all three points this weekend, as the Bucks look to maintain their challenge at the top of the table.
