"Bucks looking to clean up against the Suds"
Match Date : March 15th, 2025 3:00 pm
Competition : Southern League Premier Central
Ground : New Bucks Head
Kick Off : 15:00
After back-to-back draws on the road, the Bucks will look to get back to winning ways on home soil this weekend when AFC Sudbury are the visitors.
Having finished one point above the drop zone in 18th place last season, the Suds began the current campaign in decent form and were well-placed at the end of November. However, the Suffolk club’s form has fallen off a cliff since then, losing 11 out of 16 games – a run that has seen the Suds slide down to 20th after picking up just seven points from a possible 48.
Boss Marc Abbott, who also works as an academy coach at Arsenal, took the reins at King’s Marsh in the summer of 2023. Abbott has had to deal with the loss of some key players over the last 12 months. Young midfield star Reuben Swann left for League One Portsmouth in June, while key attackers Romario Dunne and Josh Allen left for Brighouse Town and St Ives, respectively, during the current campaign. The returning Ollie Peters has impressed since his summer switch from Billericay, though, top scoring for the Suds with nine league goals.
Kevin Wilkin’s men ran out 3-2 winners in the corresponding fixture last season, while a last-gasp Dior Angus penalty helped the Bucks salvage a 2-2 draw when the sides met in an entertaining match earlier in the campaign.
The Bucks are currently eight unbeaten and haven’t lost at the SEAH Stadium since 12 November. But while Wilkin’s men are still very much in the title hunt, a number of recent draws mean that the Bucks currently sit two points behind leaders Bedford. With the top of the table becoming increasingly congested, the Bucks will be looking for three important points to boost their promotion hopes.
