We are sad to report that Tony Esp, former chairman of Telford United, passed away last week (Tuesday 23rd April).
Tony, who owned the Telford Motor Auctions business at Trench Lock, was a board member of Telford United under Gerald Smith and succeeded to the role of chairman when Gerald stepped down after a decade of unprecedented success.
Tony was initially acting Chairman, then became Chairman in June 1992, helping to steer the club through challenging times.
He himself stepped down when he was succeeded by Andy Shaw in November 1998.
As a club we send our good wishes and grateful thanks for Tony’s commitment to Telford United and our sincere sympathies to his family and friends.
