Youth Round-Up
Saturday 1st February
Another weekend of action for our Youth sides, but the action started on the Thursday as our Under 8s and 9s Boys sides travelled over to Ludlow to face Shrewsbury Town Development sides. There were some great performances on the night with both teams credit to the club.
Our Under 10 Boys faced a long trip to Mansfield Town in the MJPL Spring Cup looking to pick up a first victory in the competition. It was a solid performance from the young Bucks but they knew it wouldn’t be their day after striking the woodwork 4 times and having several further chances cleared off the line. However, a solitary goal from the home side earnt them the points. It was similar fortune for the Under 11 Boys who conceded in the closing minutes of the game away at Studley Bees.
No league fixtures for our Under 10 and Under 15s Girls sides so they took the opportunity to take in friendlies. The Under 10 Girls were winners against Bridgnorth thanks to goals from Jasmine Millis and Ellie Scrace. The Under 15 Girls faced Central Warwickshire opposition for the second time this season drawing with Warwick Girls 3-3. Meanwhile an Under 18 Girls fell to a defeat away at Derby County in the Central Warwickshire League.
Our Under 18 Boys faced the tough test of two games in two days starting with a local derby in the MJPL against Shawbury United. Dan Gormley and Jack Humphries netted to secure the 3 points before they booked their place in the semi final of the Shropshire Youth Cup with a 4-0 victory over Meole Brace. Meanwhile the Under 12 Boys made it 4 wins on the bounce with victory over Boldmere St Michaels. Jack Davies was on hand with a brace with Bayley Bateman and Ryan Cummings also netting.
In MJPL Cup action, it was heartbreak for the Under 14 Boys as a goal in the dying seconds of the game saw them go down 2-1 at home to Aylestone Park, Dylan Millington earlier netting for the Bucks. It was better fortune for the Under 15 Boys who recovered from going a goal down early in the game to win 5-1 at home to Lane Head Swifts. Jayden Williams grabbed a brace taking him to 9 for the season with Brian Castle, Jake Evans and Cody Rimmer completing the scoring.
The Under 17 Girls dropped points for the first time this season with a 1-1 draw against Coundon Court, Kaitlyn Richards securing a point for the Bucks. It was smiler fortune for the Under 13 Boys who were forced to share the points against Hawkins Sports, Sam Ross with the goal for the Bucks.
We end our round up with the Under 16 Boys who faced Solihull Moors for the second week running this time in the league. However a Luke Mason goal wasn’t enough to stop them slipping to a defeat.
Saturday 8th February
It was the penultimate weekend of action for our Youth sides before the half term break as we reach the business end of the season. We start our round up with the Under 15 Boys, who on a good run of form faced Diamonds Red Academy. Jayden Williams continued his rich vein of form with a brace and Hanoch Boayke got himself back on the scoresheet as they recovered from being a goal down to win 3-1. Meanwhile, the Under 12 Boys kept up their own unbeaten record picking up a point on the road against Solihull, Jack Beech with the Bucks goal.
The Under 15 Girls faced a top of the table clash with TNS as both sides headed into the game level on points and just 1 goal difference in the scoring charts. It was an emphatic performance from the Bucks as they ran out 6-2 winners to take the upper hand in the race for the title. Jess Walley led the way with a hat trick as further goals came from Romillie Evans, Mollie Edwards and Courtney Castle. In Central Warwickshire action, the Under 18 Girls were denied a point in the dying minutes of the game against Stourbridge.
In MJPL Spring Cup action, the Under 10 Boys were beaten 3-1 at home to Stafford Athletico, Callum Lauder with a consolation goal. However it was better fortune for the Under 11 Boys as they returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Rugby Borough, Cole Dexter and Tyler Roe with the goals.
The Under 13 Boys faced a tricky test against FFA Hurricanes as they looked to keep the pressure on the league leaders with 3 more points. Despite dominating the game, the boys were struggling to find that elusive winning goal. That was until the final minute of the game as Harry James grabbed the deserved winner. Victory puts the Bucks in third place, 4 points off top with 3 games in hand on the leaders Northampton who they face in the semi final of the MJPL Cup this Saturday. Meanwhile an Ollie Corbett penalty wasn’t enough to stop the Under 14 Boys from going down 3-1 at Walsall Community Trust.
The Under 13 Girls put in arguably their strongest performance of the season against SAHA but were unlucky to be edged out 2-1, Mya Yee with the Telford goal. We end our round up with the Under 16 Boys who faced Basford at home looking to make inroads on the teams at the top of the table. An Ethan Relf double gave them a point on the day.
The Under 8s and 9s Boys from our Development Centre faced TNS Academy and put in two great performances on the day. We end our round up with the Under 10 Girls who won 1, drew 1 and lost 2 in Shropshire Futsal action.
