Walsall Wood Ladies
2 v 4

AFC Telford Ladies
Match Review
It was a last minute rearranged trip to Walsall Wood for the Bucks on Sunday. After what was scheduled to be a free week, they had the opportunity to catch up on one of their games in hand in the league.
It was a bright start for the Bucks and they were rewarded for this in just the 5th minute. Meg Jones beat the high Walsall Wood back line to stay onside and bear down on goal. Meg found Liv Bellamy in support with a wide pass that she was able to slot home from an acute angle. On 13 minutes they had a chance to double their advantage as Kaitlyn Richards stung the palms of the home keeper from just inside the box.
Midway through the first half, the hosts were level as a long ball forward from the back was misjudged by Rom Evans leaving the Wood striker 1v1 to finish past Mia Bansal in the Bucks goal. Parity was only restored for 4 minutes as Sasha Woodhouse picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box. With space to pick her spot, she did so with perfection finishing high into the top corner past the dive of the keeper. Just a minute later and Richards had another chance to extend the lead but was denied 1v1 after a smart interchange on half way left her with space to run onto.
The scores we level once again on the half hour mark as the Walsall striker managed to get a toe on the ball ahead of captain Holly Nicholson to race clear and finish from an acute angle into the bottom corner. Once again though the scores were only level for a short period of time and it was the lively Meg Jones involved once again. Her low cross from the right was tapped home at the back post by Sasha Woodhouse for her second of the games.
Shortly before half time the Bucks had the chance to stretch their lead, but a lob from Skye Hipkiss beat the keeper but drifted narrowly wide.
HALF TIME: Walsall Wood 2 AFC Telford 3
The second half started with the first chance falling to the hosts. However, second half substitute Beth Owens was equal to it with a great point blank save. On the hour mark, Meg Jones had the chance to get on the scoresheet but found her shot hit both posts before being cleared. Just 4 minutes later it was Jones involved once again; finishing a low cross from Skype Hipkiss. Unfortunately for Jones she was to be denied by the offside flag. Mid way through the second half, Jones who must have thought it wouldn’t be her day, was bundled over in the area. She picked herself up to dispatch confidently to the keepers left to get the goal she deserved.
The Bucks had a few further chances to extend their lead, notably Liv Bellamy who was denied 1v1, but they had to settle for the 2 goal lead. Around the 90 minute mark, Walsall went down to 10 after a player picked up a second yellow for kicking out at Shannon McShane.
