The Bucks are out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 defeat at Gainsborough Trinity.

Kevin Wilkin’s men got off to the worst possible start when Declan Howe nodded home for Trinity after just 17 seconds. And things looked to have gone from bad to worse for the Bucks when, just a couple of minutes later, Kyle Storer was adjudged to have used a hand to block Ash Jackson’s goalbound shot on the line. Storer escaped with a yellow card, before Brandon Hall made a fantastic save to keep out Howe’s spot kick.

Shellshocked, the Bucks hung in there and weathered the rest of Gainsborough’s fast start and eventually started to find some rhythm of their own as the half wore on. Wilkin’s men then managed to haul themselves level in the 35th minute, when Ricardo Dinanga turned home Remi Walker’s low cross. The teams headed in level at the break at 1-1.

The Bucks were far from their best though, and the Holy Blues started the second half almost as quickly as they did the first. Trinity retook the lead in the 51st minute when Lewis Butroid headed home Aaron Simpson’s cross to make it 2-1.

The Bucks tried to find a leveller late on, but Trinity saw the game out and on the day were well worth their place in the next round.
