Telford return to action with game against the Ammies
Salford City vs AFC Telford United
Vanarama National League North
Saturday 13th January 2018, 3pm kick off
Back to back postponements may have scuppered the January schedule so far, but the Bucks should return to action this weekend with a trip to table toppers Salford City.
After finishing fourth in the league last year, the Ammies lost out on penalties to FC Halifax Town in the playoff semi-final. This season Salford are once more among the favourites for promotion and currently sit atop the standings. A successful campaign seems likely then, and co-owner Paul Scholes has even gone so far as to state that the club expects to go up.
In their pursuit of promotion, Salford switched to full-time football in the summer, which led to several changes at Moor Lane in the off season. But the Ammies new blood have acquitted themselves well so far and lead second placed Harrogate Town by five points following victory at Darlington on Wednesday – a result that ended a run of four without win.
Among the summer recruits was local lad Jack Redshaw, who returned to the club having spent the last five years playing league football. Redshaw has impressed up front and is Salford’s top scorer this campaign with 13 goals.
The Ammies won 2-0 when the sides met earlier in the campaign and beat the Bucks in both of last season’s fixtures too – including coming from behind to triumph 2-1 at Moor Lane.
Telford boss Rob Edwards will no doubt want to improve the Bucks’ record against Salford and, in doing so, see his side score their first points of 2018.
