Bucks look to put the brakes on Leamington
AFC Telford United vs Leamington
National League North
Thursday 12th April 2018, 7.45pm kick off
The Bucks face Leamington this Thursday, in a massive game in both sides' battle to beat the drop.
Leamington beat FC United 1-0 on Easter Saturday to leapfrog the Manchester club, but results last weekend saw the two sides swap places once more. The Brakes currently sit in 16th just three points above the Bucks. A Telford win this Thursday then would bring the Bucks level on points with Leamington and and make the fight for survival much tighter.
Since the sides met back in August, Paul Holleran’s team are a much tougher proposition having have acclimatised to the higher level. After an even opening to the match at Harbury Lane, the Bucks ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in this season’s reverse fixture.
Leamington have won four of their last seven league games 1-0, but they have fared less well on their travels than they have done in front own fans this campaign. Since the turn of the year, the Brakes have won just one of their eight away fixtures, drawing two and losing five – including a 1-0 defeat at Bradford Park Avenue last time out. But the Warwickshire side did win on their only previous visit to the New Bucks Head.
Rob Edwards’ men picked up an important win against Spennymoor Town last week, and the Bucks boss will want his side to make it successive Thursday night wins when Leamington come to town tomorrow.
