The Villagers come to town for crunch clash
AFC Telford United vs North Ferriby United
National League North
Saturday 10th February 2018, 3pm kick off
North Ferriby United come to town this Saturday, as the Bucks go in search of a crucial three points.
The Villagers have put in some improved performances of late that have seen them pick up a point in each of their last two outings – against Chorley and Leamington respectively. But while that pair of draws brought an end to a dismal 11-match losing run stretching back to the start of November, this weekend’s visitors remain rooted to the foot of the table, and they currently lie 18 points behind the second-from-bottom Bucks.
It’s perhaps unsurprising then that there’s been a change of management at Grange Lane since the two sides met earlier in the season. Former North Ferriby player Chris Bolder is now in charge of the Villagers following Steve Housham’s sacking in November.
Arriving at around the same time as Boulder was forward Brett Agnew, whose prolific form for Bridlington Town saw him jump three steps up the pyramid. Agnew scored 11 times in the opening 14 league games for Brid and has bagged two goals in six appearances for the Villagers – netting in each of their last two fixtures.
But despite the extra firepower, North Ferriby still have the league’s least effective attack, having found the net just 14 times all season. Similarly, the Villager’s record of 71 goals conceded is by far and away the worst in the division.
The Bucks turned in an impressive performance on Humberside back in October to earn a 2-0 win. Bucks boss Rob Edwards and the Telford faithful will no doubt want a similar showing this Saturday, as the Bucks look to start climbing away from danger.
