Bucks thirsty for success at The Brewery Field

Spennymoor Town vs AFC Telford United

National League North

Saturday 2nd December 2017, 3pm kick off

After FA Trophy success last Saturday, the Bucks return to league action this weekend with a tough looking game away at high-flying Spennymoor Town.

The Moors have impressed so far this campaign following last season's promotion from the Northern Premier League. Town finished 2nd behind Blyth Spartans last term, before they then overcame Nantwich Town and Stourbridge to sweep to their second playoff success in as many seasons.

Spennymoor have in fact earned three promotions in the last four seasons, and they look like they will once again be challenging towards the top of the table come April. The Moors currently sit in 5th and have already beaten the likes of Harrogate Town and Chorley this season.

The man behind the Moors momentum on the pitch is Jason Ainsley. Appointed in the summer of 2007, Ainsley has overseen a decade of success at The Brewery Field. In addition to their recent rash of promotions, Town were crowned Northern League champions in four of the five seasons prior to finally taking up their place in the Northern Premier North in 2014. And in 2013, the Moors claimed the FA Vase thanks to a 2-1 win over Tunbridge Wells.

Town have only existed since 2005, when they were formed following the demise of Spennymoor United and Evenwood Town. But the Bucks have in fact met the Moors since their reformation. The sides clashed in the FA Cup back in October 2014, when Telford came from two goals down late on at The Brewery Field to snatch a replay and then went on to win the reverse fixture at the New Bucks Head 3-0.

After a run of five without a victory, the Bucks got back to winning ways last Tuesday against Tamworth before bagging a 4-2 Trophy triumph over Droylsden on Saturday. John Marsden marked his return from injury with a goal in each game on route to two man of the match performances, while last weekend's debutant Sylvan Ebanks-Blake also impressed with a double on debut.

As injury and suspension worries have started to subside, the Bucks appear to have returned to form. And with the squad getting back up near on full strength, Rob Edwards' men with be hopeful of another three points next Saturday.
