Report:
The Bucks registered a fourth successive league win in a tight contest with few clear chances. Darryl Knights was the home side’s match-winner, beating Matt Gould with a precise finish on 64 minutes.

Gavin Cowan made five changes to his Bucks line-up, one of which was new signing Marcus Dinanga, last season’s top scorer returning to the club a day earlier in a move from Burton Albion.

As expected, Jason Ainsley’s Moors team were positive in their approach, and the opening half-hour saw both sides testing each other out with creating any clear openings. Moors’ Mark Anderson went closest, his wicked free-kick from 20 yards just clearing the top left-hand corner of Josef Bursik’s goal.

On 27 minutes, the Bucks were awarded a penalty; Brendon Daniels cut into the penalty area and was adjudged to have been fouled, retaking his feet to beat Gould decisively from the spot. There then followed a 15 minutes spell which the Moors would have been grateful to come through unscathed, as Daniels in particular gave right-back Jake Hibbs a torrid time.

After the break, the Moors regained their composure, and on 56 minutes a classy finish from Glen Taylor drew them level, beating Bursik across his body with a deft shot. However, the Bucks retook the lead when Knights scored from 20 yards, beating Gould’s dive, and despite a late Moors charge, the Bucks held firm.

Spennymoor Town (4-4-2): Gould, Hibbs (Williams 45), Brogan, Chandler, Atkinson, Curtis, Johnson (Tuton 74), Henry, Taylor, Boyes, Anderson (Kempster 74).

Unused Substitutes: Thackray, Hall.

Scorers: Taylor (56).
