Bucks look to bounce back at Broadhurst Park
FC United of Manchester vs AFC Telford United
Vanarama National League North
Saturday 11th November 2017, 3pm kick off
The Bucks head to Broadhurst Park this weekend hoping to maintain their impressive record against the Red Rebels.
Telford have never lost to FC United and knocked the Reds out of the FA Cup last month. Two late goals helped the Bucks seal a 3-1 win in that cup clash, but there has been a big change at the Manchester side since that game.
Following a 1-0 defeat at Chorley the week after their cup exit, the Red Rebels parted company with boss Karl Marginson by mutual consent. Marginson had managed the fan-owned club ever since its formation in 2005, and last season guided his team to a comfortable mid-table finish in 15th position.
FC United stalwart Tom Greaves has been appointed caretaker of the Reds while the club searches for a new gaffer. And the player manager has had some success, too. The Red Rebels have won one and lost one of their two league games since Greaves took temporary charge.
Greaves takes the reins of a side that has so far struggled in the league this term. FC United currently sit second bottom of the division and have just 14 points from 16 games. Nine of those points have be gained at Broadhurst Park though, thanks to wins against Boston United, Tamworth and Nuneaton Town.
October’s win for Rob Edwards’ men means that the Bucks are now unbeaten in six competitive games against the Red Rebels. Last season’s goalless draw in Manchester was, in fact, the only time the Bucks have faced FC United and failed to win.
Bucks boss Edwards will want a reaction to last weekend’s cup defeat at Hereford, so his side should be hungry for success this Saturday.
