Volunteer Roles


Match Day Stewards
To understand their general responsibilities towards the health and safety of all categories of spectators, (including those with disabilities and children), other stewards, ground staff and themselves
To carry out pre/post event checks
To control or direct spectators who are entering or leaving the ground, to help to achieve an even flow of people in, to and from viewing areas
To assist in the safe operation of the ground, not to view the activity taking place
To staff entrances, exit and other strategic points; for example, segregation, perimeter and exit doors or gates which are not continuously secured in the open position while the ground is in use
To recognise crowd conditions so as to ensure the safe dispersal of spectators and the prevention of overcrowding, particularly on terraces or viewing slopes
To assist the emergency services as required
To provide basic emergency first aid
To respond to emergencies, (such as the early stage of fire), to raise the alarm and take the necessary immediate action
To undertake specific duties in an emergency or as directed by the safety officer or the appropriate emergency services officer

Time: 1pm – 5pm Sat Matchdays Frequency: As little as 1 game per month, or every game. Also Wolves U21 games


Admin Assistant
To assist in the day to day running of the office
To cover the reception desk and take messages
To give information on Room Bookings
Any other tasks necessary
Experience of Microsoft Office necessary

Time: 9-5 Or half day Weekly


Community Coaches
Minimum FA Level 1 Football Coaching or equivalent
All coaches must undertake a DBS check
FA First Aid required
Driving licence preferred
Experience preferred

As little as 1.5 hours per week


Match Day Catering Assistants
Assisting in the day to day service, ensuring that high standards of service and quality are maintaine
d To be available for weekends & mid week for games
To undertake the preparation, serving and delivery of fresh food and drinks
Participating in the productions and service having regard for the high standards of health and safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
To assist in the maintenance of all records, systems and procedures to ensure control of stocks and conformity with financial regulations and procedures.
To undertake any other duties as directed by the Catering Manager in the provision of high quality service.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience working as a Catering Assistant
Food Hygiene Certificate
Good customer care skills
COSHH(Control of Substance Hazardous to Health) Knowledge

Time: 1-5.00 Frequency: As little as 1 per month or every game


Match Day Bar Assistants
Assisting in the day to day service, ensuring that high standards of service and quality are maintained
To be available for weekends & mid week for games
To assist in the maintenance of all records, systems and procedures to ensure control of stocks and conformity with financial regulations and procedures.
To undertake any other duties as directed by the Bar Manager in the provision of high quality service.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience working in Bars
Food Hygiene Certificate
Good customer care skills
COSHH(Control of Substance Hazardous to Health) Knowledge

Time: 1-4.30 Frequency: As little as 1 per month or every game


Car Park Attendants
To greet visitors, when they arrive
To take their payment and issue tickets
To direct visitors to the appropriate spaces.
Ensure car parks are tidy

Time: 12 – 3.30 Frequency: As little as 1 per month or every game


Turnstile Operatives
You will be responsible for greeting home and away fans
Ensuring that the general public enter the ground with the correct tickets
Ensuring that the general public entering the ground pay the correct admission price.

Time: 12 – 3.30 Frequency: As little as 1 per month or every game


Half Time Draw Sellers
To promote and sell the Half Time Draw tickets to Supporters

Time 1.30 – 3.45 Frequency: As little as 1 per month or every game


Programme Sellers
To promote and sell the Club Official Programmes to supporters in and around the stadium.

Time 1.30 – 3.45 Frequency: As little as 1 per month or every game


Goalden Gate Agents
To promote the Goalden Gate Lottery in the area
To sell tickets to participants in the Goalden Gate Lottery – no cold calling

Time: Evenings Weekly/fortnightly/ monthly


Retail Assistants
To assist the Retail Manager with day to day sales in the Club Shop
Fulfill online orders, package them and prepare them for postage
Assist with stocktakes
Provide accurate sales information to management team

Time: Minimum of 2 hours per week Frequency: weekly/fortnightly


Commercial Sales Agents
To promote the Football Club commercially to local business & sponsors
To help to prepare promotional literature, and sales information to the Commercial Director
Identify new advertising markets, and propose products to serve them

Time: minimum of 1 day per week


Match Day Pitch Assistants
To assist the Groundsman with preparing the pitch
To assist the Groundsman with putting the divots back in at half time and at the end of the game
To be available if needed before a match, for any emergency walk to the pitch

Time: half time. Sometimes before games Frequency: Home Matchdays


Match Day Cash Assistant
To prepare the necessary paperwork for the staff to take their cash bags
To sign in and out each operators bag
To count the Half Time Draw money, and calculate the 50/50 share.
To prepare the prize money for the winner of the Draw

Time: 12.45 – 5.00 Frequency: Home games


Sports Journalist
To produce written output for use in the match day programme, website, local newspapers and magazines.
To write articles concerning the activities of AFC Telford United and its associated operations within the local community.
To ghost write the manager's and captain's notes for the match day programme.
To write match previews and reports.
To write articles about football or sport in general.

Time: flexible Frequency: in time for the programme


Graphic Designer
To produce graphical designs with a consistent visual brand to be used by the club for variety of products and activities.
To produce consistent designs for the club website, posters, displays and downloadable digital material.
To produce brochures for digital and print promoting the club's commercial offerings.
To produce infographics describing the club and stadium; and displaying related statistical data.

Time: as and when required


Marketing Officer
To raise awareness of the club within the local community and national organisations.
To actively promote matches and events.
To plan and perform marketing campaigns promoting club events, activities and merchandise; and to identify requirements for supporting marketing material and to manage the production thereof.
To actively market club events, activities and merchandise through social media and e-mail newsletters.
To promote the club to the local community.
To identify means for supporter and business partner engagement.
To monitor other sporting organisations' marketing activity and produce recommendations for similar activities.




Still Photographer
To provide off-field photographs of the club and its activitie
- The club stadium and environs

- Match-day atmosphere
- Back-room staff & operations
- Away matches following the team and the fans
- The club's brand

Media Producer (Video/Audio)
To provide off-field audio and video of the club and its activities (as above)

To produce and distribute official match day team sheets

To ensure the website remains up to date, including
- Player profiles
- Statists
- Away travel details
- Events




Fan Engagement Officer
To run fan engagement initiatives
To focus in on the “game day experience” – the highlights, the atmosphere, the music playlist, the pre match rituals, views from supporters and anecdotes from the game




Match day Support Team Member (TelfordUcare)
To provide support to visitors to the ground, especially those who experience disabilities and their carers, and the elderly (The support required will differ for each person who requires it).
The ideal candidate will have some experience of caring, whether professionally or as a carer themselves. A willingness to work as part of a team is vital as liaising with all parts of the match day staff team is required.

Time: 1.00 – 5.00 Match Days


Ball Kid Co-ordinator
To meet and greet the team as they arrive show them where they will be seated, and how to interact with the players during the game.
Meet them at half time to provide them with a drink and a chocolate biscuit, and collect them and their equipment (stool, Jackets, bibs) at the end of the game.
It is important to be enthusiastic and flexible, as circumstances may require Ball Boys / Girls to leave the field, their safety is paramount so the ability to liaise with match day security staff is also important.

Time: 2.15 Half time and after game Home match days


Post-Match Clearance Team Members
This role is simply to clear any rubbish left behind at the end of every game.

Team members will be provided with gloves, bin bags and brooms to collect any rubbish from the stands and pitch-side and then place it in the bins outside the ground

Time: 5.00 – 5.30 Home Match Days


Social Media Officer
To primarily produce the match day content for Twitter, Facebook and other social media channels; including pre-match information, team line-ups and abridged commentary.

Time: Ideally both home and away games
