Report:
An injury-time free-kick from the boot of left-back Steph
Morley kept the Bucks in the play-off places, maintaining their unbeaten home
record in the process.
In a first half of few chances, former City forward Amari
Morgan-Smith headed over the Bucks best effort, before Macaulay Langstaff put
the visitors ahead on 36 minutes. The former Gateshead man headed home from
close range after the Bucks were caught out by an attack down the right.
The home side went about their task in the second half
looking much more like the side that went seven games unbeaten from the start
of the season, but they had to be patient. Chances started to arrive, but the
Bucks were unable to convert. Morley saw an effort diverted wide, Darryl
Knights blazed over when set up by Dan Udoh, and then Jonathan Royle hit the
post with a header, but the Minstermen held on.
They finally saw their resistance broken on 73 minutes, when
Knights drove home from the edge of the box past Adam Bartlett. Gavin Cowan’s
side kept the pressure on, and when former Buck Sean Newton conceded a
free-kick two minutes into added time, Morley stepped up from 25 yards to beat
the wall and a despairing dive from Bartlett to win the game. York City: Bartlett (7), Dyer (7), Newton (6), Bencherif (6),

(7) (Wright 67) (6), Ferguson (6).
