It has been a busy 3 weeks for our youth sides since the return after Christmas. We take a look back in detail at all the action.

Saturday 5th January

It was a return to action for our Youth sides after the winter break and a first game of 2019 for a number of our sides.

We start our round up with the Under 13 Boys who faced a tricky fixture at home to Boldmere Falcons, a side that had beaten them previously. However the Bucks started the year off with a win and a clean sheet thanks to goals from Preston Whinnerah and Josh McDonald. It was defeat for the Under 12 away at Lichfield Round Table.

Both our Under 14 and Under 16 Boys faced local rivals Shrewsbury Town in league action. However both were on the wrong end of defeats, the Under 14s 2-0 with the 16s going down by a single goal.

The Under 10 Boys turned in an impressive performance to beat Hednesford Newlands, Isaac Bateson, Ethan Rowland and Charlie Matthews with the goals. It was also victory in the MJPL Trophy for the Under 11 Boys against ACE FC. George Cruise picked up 2 with Will Hardeman grabbing the other. The Under 15 Boys were edged out by a single goal at home to Middleton Cheney.

The Under 16 Girls went down by the odd goal in 3 against Leicester City, Nykeshia Reed with the Bucks goal. Meanwhile the Under 18 Girls ran out 2-0 winners against Wyrley, Macey Turvey and Abbie Baldwin with the Telford goals.

Our Under 17 Boys travelled to face Forest Falcons looking to start 2019 with a win. They did so in rather convincing fashion with a 6-2 victory thanks to goals from Kaleem Hodgkinson (2), Joe Byrne, Marcus Dillon, Sam Edwards and Michael O’Toole. The Under 18s maintained their position at the top of the league with a 4-2 victory over Brackley Town. Captain Steve Nicholson led the way with the goals supported by Rif Ata, Reece Taylor and David Jones.

Saturday 12th January

Second week of 2019 and for a number of our sides the MJPL cup competitions kicked in.

However we start our round up with the Under 18 Boys who faced arguably their biggest test of the season when they travelled to face second placed Beaumont Park. In the reverse the Bucks came out 4-2 winners but were in for a testing encounter. The Bucks has the large share of play in the first half and made it count as they raced into a 2-0 courtesy of goals from Tom Hughes and David Jones. The hosts did get one back in the second half but couldn’t prevent the Bucks registering a 13th consecutive league victory. It was also a top of the table clash for the Under 13 Boys as they faced Kings Heath Sports looking to extend their lead at the top. Despite two goals from leading Preston Whinnerah the boys fell to a second defeat of the season.

In MJPL trophy action the Under 12 Boys went down 2-0 against Kidderminster Lions whilst the Under 15 Boys picked up an impressive 5-0 victory away at Alvechurch FC. Callum Knowles led the way with a brace with further goals coming from Finnbar Plant, Joe Hubbard and Macauley Taylor. They face local side Allscott in the next round.

The Under 12 Girls kept up their great run of form as they ran out 9-2 winners away at Oswestry. December player of the month Mya Yee grabbed a hat trick with further goals coming from Frances Creen (3), Eden Wallace (2) and Lily Rudd. Meanwhile a Nykeshia Reed effort wasn’t enough to stop the Under 16 Girls falling to a 3-1 defeat at home to Leicester City.

In the MJPL Cup, Decembers player of the month Ben Lees was the hero for the Under 16 Boys as they went through on penalties against Newcastle Town after a 1-1 draw. Ben saved 2 penalties in the shoot out to see his side through. The Under 14 Boys also progressed to the next round with a 3-0 victory over Banbury United with goals coming from Charlie Timmins, Brian Castle and Anthony Duah. A poor first half cost the Under 17 Boys as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at home to Red Star FC, Marcus Dillon and Michael O’Toole with the Bucks Goals.

The Under 10 Boys drew away at Rugby Town, Isaac Bateson with both Telford goals whilst Ben Corfield grabbed both goals for the Under 11 Boys as they drew 2-2 away at Walsall Phoenix in the MJPL Trophy.

We end our round up with the Under 18 Girls who were looking to extend their unbeaten run away at title rivals Pelsall Villa. It wasn’t to be as they fell to a first defeat of the season going down 2-0.

Saturday 19th December

We start our round up with the Under 15 Boys who were looking to progress to the next round of the MJPL Trophy against neighbours Allscott AFC. It was an emphatic performance from the Bucks who progressed to the next round with a 7-1 victory. Reece Clayton on his return bagged 4 with further goals coming from Finnbar Plant, Joseph Hubbard and Toby Barnley.

Meanwhile the Under 14 Boys faced a tricky test in the league away at Sutton Coldfield Town. They picked up an impressive victory thanks to goals from Lewis Ireson, Jayden Williams and Brian Castle. The Under 12s picked up a much needed victory with a 2-1 victory over Kidderminster Harriers, Mason Brassington and Leyland Hicks with the goals.

After a first league defeat of the season last week, the Under 18 Girls bounced back in fashion with a 5-0win over Stratford Town. Tyla Richards and Abbie Baldwin both grabbed a brace with Lucie Hill netting the other. It was an impressive victory for the Under 12 Girls against Lawley Lightmoor.  Mya Yee, Frances Creen, Eden Wallace and Darcy Miller all netted for the Bucks.

The Under 16 Boys edged a 5 goal thriller away at Hartshill Sports Club. Kaiya Ata was on hand with a brace with Dan Gormley grabbing his 22nd goal of the season. A Preston Whinnerah penalty wasn’t enough for the Under 13 Boys who fell to a second successive defeat at home to Ibstock United.

The Under 11 Boys finished top of their group in the MJPL Trophy with a draw at home to St Johns Juniors, Ben Corfield with the Telford goal. The Under 10 Boys also drew against a strong Evesham side, Isaac Bateson, Charlie Matthews and debutant Arran Garvey with the goals.

Stafford Rangers were the hosts for the Under 17 Boys as they looked to bounce back after exiting the cup the week before. They picked up a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Harry Durn and Michael O’Toole. Finally we end with the Under 18 Boys who were looking to make it 14 victories on the bounce, Hednesford Newlands the visitors. On paper a tricky fixture for the Bucks with the visitors the only side to take points off them this season. However it was one way traffic as they raced into a 5-0 lead at the break. Two further goals in the second half gave them seven of the best with goals coming from Tom Hughes (3), Rif Ata, Liam Walton, Josef Pratt and Reece Taylor.
